What's included in a turbo-back exhaust system?
A turbo-back system covers the entire exhaust from the turbocharger outlet through to the tailpipe – the front pipe, catalytic converter or DPF housing (as specified in the kit), mid-pipe, muffler and tailpipe.
Is a turbo-back exhaust legal in Australia?
Legality depends on whether the specific kit retains the required emissions equipment for your vehicle and state. A turbo-back system that removes the catalytic converter or DPF entirely is generally for off-road use only – our DPF-back range is the road-legal option that keeps factory emissions gear in place.
What's the benefit of a turbo-back exhaust for towing?
Reduced backpressure across the whole system can lower exhaust gas temperatures and improve turbo response under sustained load, which is particularly useful when towing a heavy trailer or caravan over long distances.
How does turbo-back differ from DPF-back?
A turbo-back system starts right at the turbo outlet, ahead of the catalytic converter and DPF, while a DPF-back system starts after the factory DPF and retains it. DPF-back is the more common street-legal choice for modern diesel utes.
